16 – 18 June, 2006: World Urban Youth Jam: Vancouver
7 April, 2006
From 19 – 23 June, 2006, Vancouver, Canada, will host UN HABITAT’s World Urban Forum III, on the theme “Our Future: Sustainable Cities – Turning Ideas into Action”. The World Urban Forum was established by the United Nations to respond to rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies and policies. It gives the various stakeholders a common platform to discuss urban issues in formal and informal ways and come up with action-oriented proposals to create sustainable cities.
A World Urban Youth Jam will take place prior to this conference (16 – 18 June, 2006) and be a great opportunity for young people involved in successful youth-led and youth-driven projects and programs to create new networks and integrate young people’s experiences and ideas into the agenda and events during the conference.
The organizers of the World Urban Youth Jam are currently accepting applications from young people aged 14 – 29 from developing countries with some development-related experience to participate (deadline 15 April 2006).
