Project Australia Launch: 2 December, 2006
24 October, 2006
Project Australia is a new initiative for young Australians that aims to stimulate new connections, ideas and directions for the future of our nation.
On 2 December, 2006, the Project will launch with a night of national discussions. In towns and cities around Australia, young people will assemble in small groups to discuss their concerns about Australia’s direction and what they can do to create a better future.
The night has been designed for people under 40 years of age and hopes to particularly cater for those who feel misrepresented by radical left-wing activism, frightened by neo-conservative ideology, and wary of joining an all-consuming political party.
It’ll be fun and open, with a view towards creating with the potential to grow to a nationwide movement for change. The outcomes of the night, and where discussions will ultimately lead, will be determined purely by participants - so there is a real opportunity for influence.
For more information, including instructions on how to express interest in participating, see the official Project Australia website at http://www.projectaustralia.org/. (I’m the Victorian coordinator, so if you live around here, you can also contact me directly.)
