I’ll be in Brisbane from 10 - 14 May, 2006 for the Future Summit 2006, where I’m being award a Future Summit Leadership Award. “The Future Summit is the nation’s premier platform for the discussion of strategic trends and directions – providing a unique framework where Australia’s established and emerging leaders from business, government, academia and the community meet to develop actionable options for a sustainable, desirable and prosperous future.” For more information, see http://www.futuresummit.org/.
I’ll be meeting with some Brisbane friends on the evening of Saturday, the 13 May, in what is being structured as an open networking event. If you’re a young person with an interest in Australian or international youth affairs, email me (details at http://www.alanwu.org/alanwu/) and I’ll give you further details.
Hello, world!
6 April, 2006
Welcome to The Wellspring!
The Wellspring is a new web log for young people who want to get involved in community affairs at the Australian or UN level. Regularly updated with news, opportunities, analysis, interviews and other resources, The Wellspring is a comprehensive and evolving guide to getting informed and getting involved.
My name is Alan Wu; I’m a young person myself, and your host. Based in Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia, I’m involved with a number of Australian and UN youth organisations, and maintain special interests in the role of international political institutions in promoting human development, building social capital and the capacity of communities to engage in decision-making, and innovative social and political applications of new technology (what a mouthful!). To read more about me and what I get up to, visit the About Alan Wu section.
Every day I’ll bring together the most relevant news, opportunities and resources from all the information that I receive via email, across the web and through my networks and publish them in one central place: right here. I’ll dig deeper into issues, interview important minds, and provide analysis of what’s going on, to make it easier for you to shape your world.
The most current blog content will always be on the front page. Older content will be available by topic in the Archives.
So whether you’re already involved in community organisations and public affairs, are eager to get started, or just want to know what’s going on, stay tuned! There’s a lot more to come…
